ABN, GST and PayID built in — not bolted on.
Most invoice apps are built for the US and leave Australian businesses to work out GST, ABN fields and tax invoice wording themselves. InvoiceSonic is an invoice app made for Australian sole traders and small businesses: every invoice is a valid tax invoice with your ABN where the ATO expects it, 10% GST calculated automatically (or correctly left off if you're not registered), and PayID, BPAY or bank transfer on the invoice so clients pay you in full with no card fee taken out. Use the iPhone and iPad app on site or the web app at the desk — one account, same invoices.
Free to start · ATO-compliant tax invoices · AUD, GST and ABN built in · No cut of your payments

Built for the ATO, not adapted for it — GST calculates at 10% automatically, your ABN sits where it belongs, and the document is labelled as a tax invoice — the things the ATO actually requires.
Enter the actual job details, review the totals and preview your invoice. You can start without an account. Downloads follow the free-tool limits; saving, tracked sending and reminders are available with an account.
Add 10% GST per line or across the invoice and the totals calculate themselves — including GST-free items and non-registered invoices when you're under the A$75,000 threshold.
Your ABN appears on every invoice in the right place, which is what makes it a valid tax invoice and lets business customers claim their GST credits.
Offer PayID, BPAY or plain bank transfer so clients pay instantly from their own bank account with no card fee taken out. Card payments through PayPal or Square are welcome too — InvoiceSonic just never takes a percentage.
Invoice from the ute the moment the job's done on the iPhone and iPad app, or in any mobile browser — no laptop, no office, no paperwork pile for Sunday night.
Retainer clients and regular maintenance jobs bill themselves on the schedule you set — weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Australian small businesses wait around 30 days on average to be paid. Overdue invoices get chased politely and automatically, without the awkward phone call, and you can see which invoices are outstanding at any time.
Create and download your first tax invoice without signing up, and send up to three invoices a month on the free plan. Pro (A$19/month) adds unlimited invoices, recurring billing, open tracking and reminders.
Sole trader, tradie, cleaner and consultant layouts with the right tax wording — or start from the ABN invoice template and make it yours with a logo.
Enter your business name and ABN once. Every invoice you send from then on is a valid Australian tax invoice.
Registered for GST? Turn it on and 10% is calculated for you. Under the threshold? Leave it off and the invoice is labelled correctly.
Email the invoice with your PayID or bank details on it, and track what's been opened, paid and still owing.
The apps that usually make an Australian shortlist, judged on the things that matter here: tax invoice compliance, free plan, payment rails and what it costs when clients pay.
Takeaway: If you need BAS lodgement and a ledger, choose Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks. If the job is sending compliant tax invoices from the job and keeping all of the money, InvoiceSonic is built for exactly that.
Free to create and download. GST and ABN handled for you.
Create a free tax invoiceYes. InvoiceSonic is free to create and download ATO-compliant tax invoices, with no signup required for your first invoice and three invoices a month on the free plan. Pro is A$19/month and adds unlimited invoices, emailing, recurring invoices, reminders and payment tracking.
For sales over A$82.50 including GST, a valid tax invoice needs the words "Tax invoice", your identity and ABN, the date, a description of what was sold, the GST amount (or a statement that the total includes GST), and the buyer's identity or ABN for sales over A$1,000. The app includes these fields by default.
You can still send an invoice, but it isn't a tax invoice and you can't charge GST. Without an ABN a business customer may be required to withhold 47% of the payment, so if you're invoicing businesses regularly it's worth getting one — it's free from the ABR.
Only if you're registered for GST, which is required once your turnover reaches A$75,000 (A$150,000 for non-profits). Below that it's optional. The app handles both cases correctly.
Yes. Put your PayID, BPAY or bank details on the invoice and clients pay from their bank account with nothing taken out. If you also want to accept credit cards, add your PayPal or Square details — those services charge their own fees; InvoiceSonic doesn't add any.
Yes — the iPhone and iPad app and the mobile web app both work from the ute as soon as the job's finished, rather than letting invoices stack up for the weekend.
