ServiceM8 Alternatives (2026): 3 Options Compared for Australian and UK Trades

October 3, 2026

ServiceM8 alternatives compared on 2026 pricing: Tradify, Fergus and InvoiceSonic, with when ServiceM8's job-based pricing is still the better deal.

Full disclosure: I'm Dyllan, and I make InvoiceSonic, one of the options in this guide. I'll say plainly where another tool is the better choice, because for a lot of businesses it is.

The best ServiceM8 alternatives at a glance

ServiceM8 charges by jobs per month, which is great until a busy month pushes you up a tier. Free plan for 30 jobs a month (one user, no staff accounts or dispatch); Starter A$29/month for 50 jobs; Growing A$79 for 150; Premium A$149 for 500; Premium Plus A$349 for 1,500+. Paid plans include unlimited users.

  • Best for one or two people doing many jobs: Tradify, priced per user
  • Best for timesheets and staff: Fergus
  • Best for a sole trader who wants a flat price: InvoiceSonic (mine)

Prices and features are from each company's public pricing page, checked on 2–3 October 2026. Plans change, so confirm on their site before you buy.

1. Tradify

Lite A$48, Pro A$52 and Plus A$62 per user per month, ex GST, with a 14-day trial. A per-user price does not change with job volume, which suits a small business with lots of short jobs.

2. Fergus

Essentials A$53/month and Professional A$77/month per account, plus A$26/month for each timesheet user, with a 14-day trial. When checked, Fergus was advertising 90% off until December.

3. InvoiceSonic

InvoiceSonic is a flat A$19/month with a free plan: job records, quotes customers accept online, a day-by-day schedule and invoices with ABN, GST and PayID. InvoiceSonic does not have staff accounts, dispatch, GPS, online booking, timesheets or automatic repeat visits. Jobs is built for owner-operators.

See job management for tradies.

When to stay on ServiceM8

If you have several staff and a predictable job count, unlimited users on paid plans is hard to beat. ServiceM8 also includes online booking and a customer portal, which InvoiceSonic does not.

How to decide in two minutes

  1. Count who needs a login. If only you use it, per-user and dispatch features are cost without benefit. If three or more people need the schedule, team tools earn their price.
  2. Price it at your real numbers. Per-user, per-job and flat pricing rank differently depending on your headcount and how many jobs you do in a busy month.
  3. List the features you would use every week. Online booking, a customer portal and timesheets are only worth paying for if customers or staff will use them.
  4. Use the free trial or free plan on a real job. Quote it, book it and invoice it before you commit.
