What's the difference between a receipt and a tax invoice?

A tax invoice requests payment and documents the GST for a sale; a receipt confirms payment has been received. The ATO requires a valid tax invoice (not just a receipt) to claim GST credits. You can create both free with InvoiceSonic.

Does a receipt need to show GST?

If the sale included GST and you're registered, showing the GST amount on the receipt helps your customer's record-keeping. Our generator calculates 10% GST automatically when enabled.

How long should I keep receipts?
