House Cleaning Price Calculator

Price a house clean the way professional cleaners do: estimate the hours, apply your hourly rate, add the deep-clean or move-out loading and your supplies and travel. Then turn the result into a quote your client can accept.

House cleaning price example

One cleaner, 3 hours at $45 an hour, plus $15 for supplies and travel: 3 × $45 + $15 = $150 for a regular clean. The same home as a deep clean with a 50% loading: $135 × 1.5 + $15 = $217.50.

How to price a house cleaning job

Price = hours × cleaners × hourly rate, plus any deep-clean loading, plus supplies and travel. Most cleaners price by the hour and convert it to a flat price per job once they know how long a home takes.

Estimate the hours first

Hours depend on bedrooms, bathrooms, condition and pets more than square footage alone. Time your first few cleans of each home type and write the numbers down; your own data beats any rule of thumb.

Add loadings for deep and move-out cleans

Deep cleans (inside appliances, skirting boards, built-up grime) and move-out or end-of-lease cleans take much longer than a regular visit. Express them as a percentage loading on the regular price so your quotes stay consistent.

Don't forget supplies and travel

Products, cloths and fuel are real costs. Either build them into your hourly rate or list them as a line on the quote, but don't leave them out.

Your rate has to cover more than wages

For reference, the median US maid and housekeeping cleaner earned $17.07 an hour in May 2025 (BLS), and the Australian Cleaning Services Award level 1 minimum is A$27.08 an hour from July 2026 (Fair Work pay guide). Those are employee wages. A cleaning business's hourly rate also has to pay for travel time, products, insurance, admin and profit, which is why business rates sit well above them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a price for house cleaning?

Estimate how many hours the home takes, multiply by the number of cleaners and your hourly rate, add a percentage loading for deep or move-out cleans, then add supplies and travel.

Should I charge by the hour or a flat rate?

Many cleaners price by the hour internally but quote a flat price per visit once they know how long a home takes. A flat price is easier for clients to accept; tracking your actual hours keeps it profitable.

How much more should a deep clean cost?

Many cleaners add around 50 percent for a deep clean and more for move-out or end-of-lease cleans, because they take much longer. The right loading is whatever your own timings say the extra hours are worth.

Can I turn the price into a quote?

Yes. Press Turn this into a quote and the priced lines open in the free quote maker, ready to add your client's details and send.
