The best Wave alternative depends on why you're leaving. If you're outside the US or Canada, Wave no longer takes new businesses at all. If you're in the US, the usual reasons are that Wave's free Starter plan only emails invoices, sends reminders and runs recurring billing once you switch on Wave Payments, and that Pro went up to US$19 a month in August 2025. Here's how the alternatives compare.
Create the first PDF without an account, or use a free account for up to three invoices a month. Pro includes unlimited invoices. InvoiceSonic does not take a percentage when a client pays; your chosen bank or payment provider may still charge its own fee.
| Option | Price (USD) | Invoicing on the cheapest plan | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| InvoiceSonic | Free generator; Pro $14.99/mo or $129/yr | Unlimited invoices, reminders and recurring invoices on Pro; no payment processing required | Invoicing only, paid by bank, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal, in any country |
| Wave Pro | $19/mo or $190/yr | Sending, reminders and recurring included | US/Canadian businesses that want bookkeeping too |
| FreshBooks Lite | $23/mo | Recurring invoices and reminders; 5 billable clients | Service businesses with a handful of clients |
| QuickBooks Simple Start | $38/mo | Unlimited invoices inside full accounting | Businesses whose accountant uses QuickBooks |
| Zoho Books / Zoho Invoice | Varies by region | Wave's own suggestion for non-US businesses | Businesses already using Zoho apps |
Regular prices checked 10 October 2026 on waveapps.com, freshbooks.com and quickbooks.intuit.com; introductory promotions excluded.
Moving your invoicing from Wave to InvoiceSonic keeps the parts most Wave users use every week: unlimited invoices and quotes, clients that accept quotes online, recurring invoices, automatic reminders, open tracking and payment records. You give up Wave's bookkeeping ledger, bank connections, receipt scanning and payroll. If your accountant relies on those, keep Wave for bookkeeping and send invoices from InvoiceSonic, or choose a full accounting product.

No. Wave supports only businesses in the United States and Canada. It stopped supporting other countries in November 2020, redirects new visitors elsewhere to Zoho Books, and since 2024 accounts outside the US and Canada cannot email invoices or reminders through Wave.
Wave Starter has no subscription and unlimited invoices, but emailing invoices through Wave, recurring invoices and automatic reminders need online payments enabled, which charges 2.9% + $0.60 per card payment and 1% (minimum $1) per bank payment. Pro removes that condition for US$19 a month.
US$19 a month or US$190 a year, and C$25 a month or C$250 a year in Canada, charged per business. It rose from US$16 in August 2025.
For invoicing alone, InvoiceSonic lets you create and download invoices free without an account, and a free account saves 3 invoices a month. QuickBooks also has a free plan, limited to 2 invoices a month unless you turn on QuickBooks Payments.
H&R Block, which bought Wave in 2019.
No. InvoiceSonic does not process payments. Your bank, card processor or payment app may still charge its own fee.
